NEEDS-BASED PUBLIC BENEFITS

Needs-based public benefits are also known as means-tested public benefits. Needs-based public benefits are benefits that have more strict income asset/resource requirements to qualify and be eligible for. Needs-based public benefits are the essential benefits that, CPT, as Trustee, protects.  ​ 

Needs-based public benefits consist of the following:
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)-A Federal income supplemental program that provides monthly cash disbursements to assist with food and shelter to individuals who are disabled, blind, or aged (65 years old or older)

Medi-Cal(California’s Medicaid Program, every state has own Medicaid Program)-Provides health coverage to low income adults, pregnant women, children, older adults, and individuals with disabilities. Medicaid is the primary payer across the nation for long-term care services.

In-Home Support Services (IHSS) Program– Program that will assist in paying for services for individuals so they can remain in their own residence instead of living in a nursing or care facility. Individuals must be over 65 years of age, or disabled (child or adult), or blind to be eligible.
